Our activities
It is fantastic to live and live in Dalarna! We want all students to have the opportunity to explore the region and experience as much as possible during their studies. We update with current events and
happenings in Falun and Borlänge. We also organize study social activities. The activities vary from outdoor activities such as hiking to cultural activities such as visits to the Falu Mine.

Beginners Hike
Through the Swedish Tourist Association's project Nybörjartur, we invite you students to an easy hike. During the hike, there will be several stops where you will receive practical information about hiking in nature. ​
The purpose of the beginner's tour is to offer opportunities where people who are not experienced in the outdoors can gain knowledge about hiking and outdoor life - preferably close to home! The goal is that the individual with the new knowledge should feel an increased sense of security staying in the forest and land. ​

17th of febraury

A day on the ice
February 17 was the time for the annual winter activity. This time the bus, like last year, went to Sjösidan near Främby Udde.
The idea was for the students to try cross-country skating, but due to over-ice this was not possible. Instead, the students got to try touring skis, snowshoes, pimpling and a sauna with an ice bath. Lunch was served in a tent hut where vegan gulsch was heated over a live fire.
There were many happy faces at the end of the day when it was time for the bus to go home again.
5 & 6 February
Inspirational lecture - Discover Dalarna
During the lunch break, Dalarna University students had the opportunity to take part in an inspirational lecture "Discover Dalarna". Visit Dalarna shared the best of Dalarna for 30 minutes. The students were invited to pizza and drinks. ​
The purpose of the activity is to inspire students to discover Dalarna on their own.

Guided tour at Falu copper Mine
30 students got to experience the mine below ground.
Our guides took them through dizzying mine passages and told them about the mine’s thousand-year history.

A lovely evening jump with 47 energetic students at Yoump in Borlänge. A fun and appreciated activity that we hope to be able to do again soon!

Campus to Campus
Hike challenge
On Saturday 7 October, 70 participants laced up their walking shoes to take on the Campus 2 Campus challenge, a walk from Campus Falun to Campus Borlänge. The walk was 27 km and we are very impressed that almost everyone made it to the finish line.
Along the way, the participants were treated to coffee and lunch was served at beautiful Haganäs in Borlänge.
In the evaluation, 100% answered that they would like to go again!

In May 2023, we conducted a Beginner's tour and it was very successful.
Both Beginner tours are fully booked, but keep an eye out for more opportunities in Orbi! ​

River race
The first edition of the students' river race, part of the introductory weeks for the new students.
Despite the rain and a strong flowing Falu river, the mood was at its best and a lot of cheering for their classmates echoed across the center of Falu.
​
A total of 12 teams took part in the competition, and after a group stage, two even and thrilling semi-finals awaited where Internationals Falun and STUP 2 progressed to the final where STUP 2 finally won after a strong final sprint.
​
We at Student Dalarna thank Human By Nature for good cooperation in the planning before the competition and in the implementation, as well as everyone else who pitched in in some way both before, during and after the canoe race.

9 May
The University Walk & Run
72 students and employees at Dalarna University took part in the University Walk & Run 2023. Some chose to run 10 kilometer as fast as possible, some chose to walk the 4 kilometer distance. Happy and warm, the participants arrived at the finish line and received a banana, water and a protein bar.
Student Dalarna will send our thanks to all the participants and hope to see you again at the University Walk & Run 2024!
1 April
Carl Larsson Gården
The students were welcomed to accompany the super celebrities Carl and Karin Larsson home! The Carl Larsson farm in Sundborn is an icon in Swedish home decor and family life. The Carl Larsson farm has followed the Larsson family through generations and is managed by Carl and Karin Larsson's family association. The family association works to preserve the farm as a home and keep Carl and Karin's work alive.

The activity was very much appreciated and many of the students had no idea that the Carl Larsson farm was so close. The event had a limited number of seats and sold out in just a few days.

25th of february
A day on the ice
During one day, the students had the opportunity to try different activities on the ice: Cross-country skating, kicking and ice fishing. Vegan goulash was offered in our Camp. Runn showed his best side when there wasn't a cloud in the sky. In order to offer the students a round-trip bus from the student accommodation in Borlänge and Falun, we had a maximum of 50 seats. These seats sold out very quickly.

Hiking Gyllbergen
The bus was fully booked in 15 minutes as always when we organize our hikes. This time the tour went to the magical Gyllbergen outside Borlänge. We hiked a few kilometers, grilled sausages, made coffee and hiked back to the car.

Guided tour of Falu Mine - English
As a student at Dalarna University, it is a must to have visited Falun's pride the copper mine at least once during your studies. We arranged a discounted price for a guided tour in unimaginable environments. .
September 21, 2022
Mono Loco
The students got active with climbing, dodge ball and bed ball. We arranged food, there was an opportunity to buy drinks on site. During the evening, there was also a quiz. The atmosphere was great and a total of 75 students participated.
May 3, 2022
Högskoleloppet
132 students and employees at Högskolan Dalarna participated in the first implementation of the Högskoleloppet. Participants could choose to sprint/walk: 3km, 5km or 10km around the forests at Campus Falun.

Cross-country skates at the lake Runn
40 happy students gathered at the harbor in Källviken to get the opportunity to try cross-country skates. We offered a soup lunch and coffee. The sun was shining and it was a fantastic morning!
